Claire Fougea heads the firm’s Employment Law Department.

She was previously a partner at the Paris office of Norton Rose LLP, where she was in charge of the employment law department.

Franklin’s employment law department advises a variety of French companies, often subsidiaries of foreign groups, on all aspects of employment law. The department’s practice covers the full spectrum of employment law issues arising from organizational changes in the company or group, including redundancies/layoffs and the development and implementation of employment preservation plans, the consultation of employee representatives, negotiations with unions and the drafting of company or group-wide collective bargaining agreements.

The department also works closely with the firm's corporate finance department and with the tax law and competition law departments on issues arising from changes in the structure of the company or group, in connection with acquisitions, disposals of subsidiaries or business transfers.

Its practice also includes individual and collective labor disputes, employee savings plans, social security and public benefits, global mobility and the full range of issues related to the status, compensation and removal of officers, in collaboration with the tax law department.

The department devotes a large part of its practice to assisting clients with all their day-to-day employment law and HR needs, and provides seminars/training on current issues or on topics of the client’s choosing.

Finally, when called upon to advise on projects or transactions spanning several countries in or outside the European Union (including setting up European Works Councils), the department works in close collaboration with the best foreign law firms, with which it maintains regular contacts. Two associates on the team also have German law degrees.
