In direct contradiction of established High Court precedents, the Paris Court of Appeal has ruled once again that courts do not have jurisdiction over trademark infringement claims brought against foreign websites. |

In a decision dated December 15 2006, the Paris Tribunal of First Instance found Sony France and Sony United Kingdom liable for failing to clearly inform purchasers of Sony NW HD1 portable music players of the fact that the music players cannot play music files other than those downloaded from the Sony Connect online music platform. Sony was also held liable for tying its Sony Connect music download services to the sale of its NW HD1 players.
