Tax audits : France launches its pro-business revolution
After having stepped up their audits under President Hollande, French tax authorities are now shifting some of their efforts from sanctions to upfront advice, a welcome change for French businesses.
“Unquestionably, there was a lot of tension under Mr. Hollande’s presidency and the particularly harsh policy of his Budget Minister Mr. Christian Eckert, Franklin partner Jérôme Barré confirmed. This only led to tougher audits and increased tensions when, actually, better relationships with tax authorities bring about faster resolution. It’s common sense. This new, gentler approach to tax audits will greatly improve tax collection.”
