Xavier Marchand and his team join Franklin to create the firm’s Health & Safety Hazards practice.
Moving forward with its expansion, independent law firm Franklin is adding an Health & Safety Hazards practice to its offering, with the arrival of a team led by partner Xavier Marchand, a highly regarded expert in this field.
Xavier Marchand is recognized for his expertise in the fields of health & safety hazards, insurance law and environmental law. He advises and represents French and international market leaders across a variety of business sectors and industries, including renewable energies, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, steel, and food.
He counsels the insured on the full range of health and safety issues: industrial disaster prevention (operational risk modeling and mapping), complex disasters (fire or explosion at manufacturing plants, product recalls, serial losses) and crisis management (crisis response, business continuity and disaster recovery, insurance claims).
An expert in industrial project monitoring, he also advises manufacturers, developers, insurers and investment funds on structuring and conducting their industrial and real estate projects, and dealing with government agencies. He guides clients seamlessly through each project from start to finish, from needs assessment to the bidding process, and handles operations and contract management from design to completion.
Xavier Marchand has a particular strength in environmental law and green transition matters, with a specific expertise in the fields of biogas (anaerobic digestion), real estate sustainability and circular economy, as well as in the biopharmaceutical industry.
With his three associates, Alison Leroy, Elise Labbe and Sarah Pezzana, he will be able to work closely with the firm’s existing teams, in particular the Banking, Investment Services and Insurance practice, the Restructuring practice (e.g., on corporate reorganizations involving plant conversions), as well as the Public Law, Energy and Real Estate teams.
“The rich synergies to be developed with Franklin’s various teams will be a unique benefit for our clients. I look forward to combining our expertise to help businesses transition to a solidarity-based, responsible economy,” Xavier Marchand explained.
Finally, Xavier Marchand is particularly committed to sustainable development, assisting leaders in the fields of biogas and sustainable real estate. As Vice-President and a founding member of non-profit organization Biogaz Vallée, he created the “Qualimétha” biogas quality certification. He is also actively involved in low-carbon building organization BBCA, whose certification he has helped develop. The partners at Franklin greatly value his strong commitment, which mirrors the firm’s own dedication to helping clients faced with the emergence of new challenges.
The arrival of Xavier and his team is another significant milestone in Franklin’s ongoing expansion.
