Valérie Aumage joins Franklin to create IT & Data Protection practice

Continuing its expansion, Franklin has hired Valérie Aumage and her team to create and head up its IT & Data Protection Practice.

Valérie Aumage is a tech and data privacy expert with over 20 years of transactional and litigation experience. Her practice focuses on drafting and negotiating IT contracts, structuring digital and e-commerce projects, and assisting businesses with their digital transformation.

As a DPO certified by the French Standardization Association (AFNOR) upon delegation from the French Data Protection Agency (CNIL), she routinely assists French and international clients with their overall privacy compliance efforts as well as with specific issues, including cookies, transfers of data outside of the EU, subject access requests, cybersecurity or privacy breaches.

Valérie Aumage will work closely with the other partners in firm, especially Sandra Strittmatter in Intellectual Property, and Myriam de Gaudusson and Patrick Thiébart in Labor and Employment. She will also work alongside Serge Durox and Michel Sapin on the Regulatory & Compliance aspects of a wide array of matters, including in the public sector.

Like most partners in the firm, Valérie Aumage maintains a largely international practice, advising French and foreign clients across a broad range of industries, including software publishing, automotive, video games, cloud computing, cosmetics, luxury goods and more.

Commenting on the move, Valérie Aumage said: “After almost 15 years practicing at international law firms, I was eager to join a French outfit and Franklin stood out as a staunchly independent, top-tier Paris law firm with recognized technical expertise and freedom to expand. Having previously founded the IT & Data Protection practice of an international law firm, I am thrilled to take up this exciting challenge again”.

The other partners added: “Data is an ever-growing concern for businesses, one that impacts all aspects of their operations. We felt that Franklin needed to be able to deliver on its clients’ expectations in this area. Valérie brings the expertise we need to achieve this goal and enables us to further diversify our service offering. Her ability to lead work on cross-border transactions, especially with Japanese or German companies, will also be of great benefit to our many international clients.

Valérie Aumage is joining the firm with Nolwenn Vignaud and Chloé Martin dit Neuville, two associates with extensive IT and Data Privacy expertise and who were admitted to practice in Paris in 2013 and 2017, respectively.
