Franklin advises the Centre-Val de Loire Region, Orléans Métropole and the City of Orléans in connection with Duralex’s insolvency proceedings

Franklin’s Restructuring team is advising the Centre-Val de Loire Region, Orléans Métropole and the City of Orléans as legal counsel in connection with the insolvency proceedings opened against Duralex® SCOP SA, following the judicial reorganisation proceedings opened by the Orléans Commercial Court.

Duralex®, a flagship of France’s industrial heritage and an icon of glassmaking expertise for more than 75 years, has gone through a decisive period during which the Centre-Val de Loire Region, Orléans Métropole and the City of Orléans fully mobilised to support the search for a buyer capable of building a new future for the La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin site and its employees. In this context, a call for bids was launched to identify a takeover project.

On 14 October 2026, the Orléans Commercial Court selected the takeover bid submitted by the consortium led by Tomé, headed by Mr Cédric Meston, Ms Silham El Kasmi and Mr Christophe François. The bid will preserve 155 of the company’s 219 jobs and provide for the takeover of the entire industrial facility, brand and inventory.

The predominantly private takeover project is supported by public authorities, including a €4 million loan from the French State and €1 million loans respectively from the Centre-Val de Loire Region and Orléans Métropole. It provides for the modernisation of the production facilities, the renewal of the product range and the conversion of the melting furnace to electric technology by 2029.

Franklin is advising the Centre-Val de Loire Region, Orléans Métropole and the City of Orléans on this transaction through a team led by partner Numa Rengot and comprising associates Marouan Fawzi, Karl Mbimbe-Sosso and Elisa Kremer, who are advising on restructuring and insolvency proceedings.

Duralex® SCOP SA was advised by Hoche Avocats through a team led by partner Claire Gamain and comprising associate Fanny Bollet, who advised on restructuring matters.
